This series is an attempt to illustrate how life was going on in the Middle Ages.
Now let’s have a look this week to children in this period of history.
Kids could only play with natural things (like water) in an era without any toys.
Photographed at medieval festival of castle Sterckshof (Deurne, Belgium).
A big thanks to Schnuckeline for the kindly nomination of this picture.
You have taken a photo of quite a lovely scene here. The expression of the right child is very natural. Nevertheless, children are the best models without airs and arrogance.
I think, the children in the Middle Ages were contented with easy toys, today they aren't glad yet about a bar of chocolate....

: ))))) very cute kids – picturesque like in the movies… as philippe ariès said in his "centuries of childhood": during medieval times "childhood" wasn't even an issue. children depended on their parents until they were about 7 years old – then they were considered "adults". emotional ties were the exception – hard to imagine, if one looks at these two cuties here, having fun in the grass and playing and looking so clean and… loved!! ; ))) greetings, sabine. p.s.: sorry, didn't want to sound pretemptious here – but i guess i do… ; )))))
Great capture of this beautiful girls. I also believe in natural and safe play items rather than all this rubbish or age related unsuitable toys. Cheers Renate
How lovely - even the children got involved into the re-enactment of the times ... a magical image with this light , wonderful and definitely for the gallery !!!
best wishes, Adele
That is a great shot, the children are unaware of the photographer and thus their pose is absolutely natural.
They are enjoying their "primitive" game, showing that playing with little more than a bucket full of water can be great.
Wonderful light, too.
Certainly a PRO!
Best regards and good luck,
Susana
