Bergenia is a plant native to the Western Himalayas, Afghanistan & Tadzhikistan and likes to grow on moist rocky slopes.
This very hardy species can grow in climates with extreme temperatures ranging from about -40°C to +50°C.
It's getting more and more popular in European gardens.
Common names for Bergenia are “pigsqueak” (due to the sound produced when two leaves are rubbed together) and “elephant’s ears” (due to the shape of the leaves).

German name : Himalaja-Bergenie
Latin name : Bergenia stracheyi
"pigsqueak" sounds right to me! not only because of the sound, but also because of the strange cluster-like look of their blossom, which – i have to say it now, sorry! ; )) – in a way reminds me of the valves in an organ that has just been cut off its organism! not my kind of flower for sure – but beautifully photographed as always! ; )))) greetings, sabine.
