for this shot of the 2 brothers on location @kiel city back in 2007 i actually had to balance my strobe to portrait these fellows, fitting in the available surrounding natural light plus the top left lantern. although this has an almost american night look to it, the shot was taken by the time of the blue hour. i used the strobe to bring up the dark tones in the clothing and to get a proper portrait lighting - setting my canon 5d to the right exposure for the background.
