Scottish Games

Scottish games conducted in Wellington Ohio, USA.
I'm not Scottish but I had a beer ( I couldn't find the scotch ) and celebrated their heritage with them.

Strictly speaking.. Highland Games. The sassenach (lowlanders) were never much good at these games though they were very good at running... usually running away.

Agree with the definition in wikpedia except its not meant "as a (friendly) term".

The games were tests of a young man's fitness for war.
It took the English 500 years to stop running away from the highland charge and then when they eventaully stood their ground against a much weakened army at Culloden.. they went on to committ genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Highlands which, though less bloody than earlier pogrommes, still goes on today.

Well I just had a wee dram of scotch and this is a nice photo to view after. Great action shot, with a nice facial expression captured to show the exertion of our kilt clad contestant. Nicely done. I do wonder what the view from the other side would have been? ;-)) -archie
