I'm in Houston, Texas. I've been an amateur photographer for years. I have 35mm cameras and digital cameras. I can't say that I've mastered either method, but it's a great hobby and teaches you to really see things. I'm enjoying seeing all the wonderful work posted here. As soon as I figure out how to upload and what I want to send, I'll start sending photos. I'll be interested in any responses. We learn through criticism and practice.

If somebody doubts about so much colour, you can check it in Westonbirt :-)). Westonbirt Arboretum is a collection of really unique trees, also big collection of Japanese maples. Believe me, that the postprocessing in PC is minimal, the day was with drizzling, partly raining, without any sun, so the picture and colours are dark. You can see it according to the time and shutter (1/25, 2,8). It was problem of all my visit in Britain. Best regards Lubos.

Way cute little bird. Thank you for your comment. Usually I remain for the euthanasia and hold the birds close to me while they cross over, but I couldn't for this one because I was too upset. I made the mistake of becoming to close to the case. I said my goodbyes before I took her in. Another little light went out in the heavens....m.

Thanks for the comment. "Puppy" had just awoke from one of the many naps she took while still a tot. She hasn't started drinking. Yet! :-) People often assign human thoughts, feelings and emotions to animals and while some animals further down the food chain can show "emotion", predators can't afford to show emotion. I can be presented with a raptor with a traumatic amputation and they show absolutely no sign of pain. Where a human, dog or cat would be screaming in pain, the raptor remains stoic....m.

Use a tripod or at least a monopod , F8 and 1/400 will do ,I use a 50-200mm zoomlens at full range ( 200mm)

Thanks for stopping by, and the comments...I spent a lot of years in the Lone Star State....lived and worked there for over 30 years, a lot of my pictures come from there...hope you enjoy it here at fc, and if I can help in any way let me know, I use mostly Canon and Minolta digital cameras and PhotoShop CS3, and Canon Digital Professional software for editing...If I do not have the answer, I just might know someone that does...best wishes, den
