Born Aug. 1952, resident of Moscow, Russia, a professional translator, at various times I worked for an English-language newspaper, a news agency, a publishing house and a translation company.

I love photography and I have been taking pictures all my life on a more or less regular basis. Because of a disability that paralysed my right arm in 2006, I use a lightweight point-and shoot camera (Canon S95) and take pictures with my left...

I jump at every photographic opportunity that comes my way, in monochrome and color alike. My habit is to shoot any subject that shows photographic value. I have also tried my hand in simple 2D computer graphics.

And Fotocommunity.com has become a second home for me. People here are very nice and and tolerant and quite a few of them are really gifted photographers. I have no ambition in photography other than to learn from persons who take better pictures than I do and I draw my simple pleasures from posting pics and communicating with others ...

Interesting that you say "almost 3D". I think the same but its strange because all details are sharp. It is probably the shadow. The room was open to one side and it was cloudy outside. So a virtually had a huge softbox.

For the classroom: i have a whole series of them. I think I will post more of it. The classroom was open on one side and it was cloudy outside. I practically hat a 3 x 5 m softbox ;)

Thank you for your current comment. The nik Silver Efex Pro2 (SEP)
works only as a plug in. 8 Months ago I switched over to Photoshop
- so in this case its no question. I can imagine that most of the B&W
editing can be managed by Photoshop as well, but probably it needs
a lot more practice to achieve that. SEP allows beyond that a simulation
of the spectral sensitivity of different analoge films including the grain.
Here I was astonished about the tonal responce.
