I'm a 51 year old single dad of 2 grown boys. I was born and have lived in New Zealand all my life. In April 06 I purchased my 2nd camera, a Fuji S5600. Having had a E500 which I was very happy with, I find I am familiar with the Fuji layout and like their colours and ease of use. Now I've just bought myself a Sony Alpha A100 which I'm finding just great.
There are so many things I have yet to try, landscape, and portrait are two especially.. Hope you enjoy my efforts as much as I have enjoyed witnessing them..Thanks for reviewing my pics. I enjoy FC and am envious of so many images...Thanks....Rob
Update Oct 09. Just taken delivery of Sony Alpha A550 and Sony 50mm f1.8 lense...beeeewdyful.;-))

The counter of hikes stands on 621 for the moment, so still a lot to go.
These 621 are all different hikes. Some of them I made 2 or even 3 times and if I count them too, then I am already over 1000.......
Yes western Canada is a BIG New Zealand, just a LOT colder. So your son is at Lake Louise...busy this time of year with skiers and boarders and bunnies but not as busy as in the summer (us locals stay away then as it's overrun with visitors at that time of year)!
Enjoy the season! And keep on sharing your pictures!
Hi Rob your photo's are great did you take them all with the s5600. I have got S5600 camera and still have to keep going back to the manual but still get some great photo's when I set the camera right.
Hi Rob,thanks for the comments on my dolphin photos. My pictures were both taken from no more than 20 ft.away from my little boat as i tried to catch my dinner trolling for mackerel. The boat was moving around a lot so i was really happy both photos came out.I just use an olympus c60 compact and don't even rate myself as an amateur. My camera just there so i can show my son how beautiful the sea is and god willing inspire him to love it as much as i do.Take it easy.pete
I think you're right about the position of the stork, it was only difficult because there was only blue sky.
The nests are handmade, many farmers have those nests put on their land. Storks are very rare in our little country so it's very special to catch one on your photo.
Thanks for your comments.
Christchurch always reminds me of John Britten, the designer of motorcycles. My son is crazy about his legend and made me translate for him a few articles and write an assay about him. They say that being far from the tradition of Europe was the reason for his originality. My son studies design now and Britten is his model for an original designer and inventor.
my photos are not minipulated either except for a bit more contrast and exposer and sometimes a negative effect and also animation but they are all from my kodak digital camera programe.
if i knew how to do some of the editing i maybee would try but i love photos as you take them also, it makes it more harder to get that perfect shot !
i will be posting some of my new photos up tommorrow, hope you like.
you have some great photos here Rob, abd you have had a great start to this amazing photocommunity !
i hope to see more of your amazing macros.
you are slowly making some great friends, a great person like you deserves them all, and happiness.
Hi Rob, Some times a use diferent (COKIN) filters, or change it with Adobe Photoshop 7.0, bud not to much. My last photo Fire in the sky ,I used no filters and no Adobe. Bud this evening was very humid, the best days to make photo's like this. That evening I make 44 photo's this one were the best. It is nice to here that you like my photo's, have a nice photo day.
Hi Rob, thanks for your kind comments to"Watching the sun go down" the setting for the camera was set on standard. I have the Finepix S500 this was one of there first models to be released and does not have the refinements of yours. My macro, if you can call it that, leaves a lot to be desired. I also have a Contax Aria to use fuji film on.
